are you talking about Linda Ravenscroft who illustrats fairies??
i have'nt know her, but i fall in love with her illustrations once i saw it!!

well there are a bunch of tricks for that
you can make fan art of one of the most popular artists he'll add it to his favorites because . . i dont know they like it even if it is ugly and if he likes what you draw he'll probably add some other of your pieces to his faves and people always checks those peopel favorites because if you're good enough for them you're gopod enough for all his fans , and of course usualy you make fan artr of people than draws/likes the same kind of things you like ( fantasy horror etc.) wow I wrote a lot sorry for the crappy english anyway you're probably not gonna read this haha , stay as awesome as you are ;D
